Such a Retirement Thing to Do

I offered to try out one of the New York Times recipes and bring it to my youngest daughter's for dinner tonight.

 She politely tells me that she's not a fan of pot roast.

 So we're going out for drinks and dinner instead.

 Such a retirement thing to do, right?

 ps--I already purchased a pot roast and will still cook this recipe in the near future.

 The cleaning people came yesterday, and in the short span of two hours effectively wiped away all traces of the past two weeks. We engaged in our own version of chaos here in Florida, one imbued with love as opposed to the national political version laced with evil.  For the first time in the 7 years we've been snowbirding, all four of our children's school districts had the same spring break.  Usually spring breaks spread out over a month, giving each family time alone together, bunking with Grandma and Grandpa.  The turnover is not dissimilar to a revolving door, often one family being picked up at the airport while another is packing up their suitcases to leave later in the day, beds being stripped and remade, towels washed, etc.  There has been some overlap of families for a couple days but never all 4 families here at the same time.  Until this year. Greetings From the Other Side of the World, Day 18: The Final Countdown

  Yes, Sports Fans, this remarkable, amazing trip ends early tomorrow morning with a 12:15 a.m. Sunday flight from Chiang Mai to Seoul, where we arrive at 5 a.m., then leave Seoul for Minneapolis at 7:45 p.m. Sunday only to arrive in Minneapolis at 4:45 p.m. Sunday.  Mind boggling.  Fortunately international flights are not impacted by the flight reduction mandate so one less thing to be concerned about.   Yesterday Wanlaya was working.  Here I thought she was retired and yes, she is, retired from her position as a hospital nurse. but she runs a small clinic from in front of her home where she will see usually 20 or more patients with 'normal' medical concerns from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The medical system here in Thailand is interesting, according to a conversation I had with Art.  The government pays for your healthcare if you go to a hospital otherwise it is up to you to pay for it out of pocket or by purchasing private health insurance which, like ...

  I'm finding it challenging to write, considering all going on in the world.  Anything, well, okay, just about everything in my privileged world, seems inconsequential if not a first world problem.  But I think I can pull out a few threads from a couple things that occurred recently that might not be quite so centralized.  Or maybe not.  You can decide.                                                                            New Number One   Recently I took a good look at the bathing suit I wear to water aerobics and was surprised to see how worn out it was, especially in the rear end area.  After all, this was my "new" suit which, upon reflection, was a couple years old and probably had run its course in chlorinated water....
