Greetings from the Other Side of the World, Day 4: Working Hard to Have Fun

Today was a day at sea, meaning a lot more work for the ship's crew since all nearly 900 passengers were on board from sun up to sun down.  The day's itinerary reflected ample opportunities to engage in activities with your fellow voyagers...or you could do nothing.  Totally up to you.

I brought the Viking Daily to breakfast so we could plot out what we might want to do: which lectures to attend; which games to play; which meals to eat and where; which pools and hot tubs to sink into.  This necessitated frequent referencing to the Daily throughout the day because we were challenged to recall which activity occurred at which time and how it fit into the other events that appealed to us.  From a retired professor, we learned about how we are star dust or nuclear waste, depends upong your perspective.  Came in third in trivia--the general knowledge question, to which I take umbrage, was what is the currency of Malaysia.  Lowered ourselves into a couple hot tubs.  Napped on loungers.  Heard more about the history of China.  Won Name That Tune--a Dan forte, augmented by new friends who also shared in his deep knowledge of both trivia and song titles.  Prepared for our day long trip tomorrow to Hanoi.

One would think that a sea day would just involve laying back and doing nothing.  Turned out, for us, there was a lot of hard work to ensure we had a day of fun.
