Hank, The Birthday Dog, Takes Over the Blog for the Day
Greetings and salutations--or should I say, pawlutations? JK.
I'm Hank, Mary's (the author of this blog), beagle and today is my 11th birthday. We thought it would be fun if I put paw to keyboard and blog about my life with Mary and her spousal unit, Dan, while they're in Florida. Since typing is quite challenging, I decided to mostly post pictures. Isn't that what humans say, a picture is worth a thousand words? In the dog world, a smell is worth a gazillion words but for today, we'll go with pictures.
First, this gives you an idea where they got a place for me to stay in Florida.
There is a sign that says No Dogs Allowed on the beach, but Mary took me on just for a minute. I discovered I like it and now, whenever they take me out, I head right for the beach. There are birds and water to chase there and talk about the smells! WOO HOO!
You might be wondering what I do all day, since I can't go on the beach. Here's an overview of my daily activities.
I like the couch in the living room.
Conveniently there are a number of very attractive pillows provided for my comfort.
I like the chair in the living room that is directly next to the sliding glass doors. It allows me to be ever vigilant and bark as needed to alert the entire Gulf coast of Florida that an intruder may be near.
The living room floor also provides a soft place to lay, in case the leap to the couch or chairs proves to be too taxing.
On the second floor, I'm particularly fond of Dan and Mary's bed. Again, it is right next to a sliding door so I have more of a bird's eyes view of the comings and goings in the neighborhood.
One day there were thunderstorms--not a fan. So I ducked into the lower bunk bed in one of the other bedrooms to hide from the noise.
I hear there are many restaurants in the area that allow dogs, including Crabby Bill's which is one of Dan and Mary's favorites. To date, they haven't taken me with them, which forced me into learning how to jump up on the dining room table bench while they are eating.

Just so you don't get the wrong idea, I was interested in the chicken, not the glass of wine although I am of legal drinking age in human years.
There you have it. With my encouragement, I hope we will back here again next year because this is what it looks like in MinneSNOWta today, April 14.
